To ensure your lawn's beauty and long life, it's essential to take care of it with regular, thorough mowing.
Here are 6 simple tips for a perfect shave:
The optimal cutting height for a mix of Festuca Arundinacea and Poa Pratense (the "Classic" lawn) throughout the season is approximately 4cm.
- TIP 2 - MOWING PERCENTAGE
It is advisable to respect the rule of never cutting more than 30% of the existing vegetation.
For example, if a lawn has reached 7 cm in height, it should be reduced to around 5 cm after the first cut, and then lowered to 4 cm a few days later.
- TIP 3 - SHAVING FREQUENCY
As temperatures rise, grass grows faster, and to maintain the 4cm mark, you'll need to mow more often.
Therefore, in spring and late summer, we recommend increasing the frequency of mowing until it reaches twice a week to maintain the lawn's height at 4 cm.
- TIP 4 - SHARPENING THE LAWN MOWER
It is recommended to have sharp lawnmower blades, especially when cutting mixtures containing Festuca Arundinacea, which are the hardest to cut.
If you prefer mulching with discharge to the ground rather than bagging, it is advisable to reduce the cutting percentage to 20% of the grass height and it is advisable to increase the frequency of mowing so as to have very finely chopped grass clippings.
Particularly for surfaces larger than 50 square meters, we recommend using petrol-engine lawnmowers, as they are equipped with more powerful engines and higher blade speeds.
Furthermore, they do not have an electric cable which significantly slows down the mowing operation.
