The Pedrollo FN-18 SIC mechanical seal is the reinforced version of the FN-18, in which the ceramic rotating ring is replaced by one made of silicon carbide, which is more resistant to wear and thermal stress.
Suitable for electric pumps with a crankshaft size of 18 mm.
The FN-18 SIC mechanical seal is mainly used on centrifugal, twin-impeller, multi-impeller and self-priming pumps.
The mechanical seal's job is to keep the hydraulic part separate from the electrical part. It prevents water from reaching the bearings and motor.
The FN-18 SIC seal allows shaft rotation without the use of a rigid seal.
The seal consists of two parts: a rotating one and a fixed one. Made of graphite, silicon carbide, NBR, and AISI 316L stainless steel.
The seal inside the electric pump is one of the most stressed parts and is therefore subject to wear. It's important to replace it when water is found in the motor.
