Green Calendar for October 2026
Your lawn heading into winter

Support the autumn growth of cool-season grasses and prepare warm-season grasses for winter dormancy: seeds, nutrition and products recommended by the Bottos green calendar for October 2026.
This month’s tasks
October is a transition month for lawn care: autumn can still bring spells of warm weather that encourage grass growth, as well as sudden drops in temperature. Daylight hours gradually decrease, and the lawn’s needs change as winter approaches.
Cool-season grasses: supporting autumn growth
Maintenance of cool-season grasses should therefore follow the course of the season, encouraging renewed growth when conditions allow and supporting the lawn during periods of slower growth.
For seeding and lawn renovation, the green calendar for October 2026 recommends selected seeds and starter fertilizers. Nutrition is complemented by products for root development, soil biofertility, greening and proper substrate hydration.

Warm-season grasses: preparing for winter dormancy
With the arrival of autumn, the growth of warm-season lawns slows markedly, stopping completely in more northerly areas.
Before growth stops, it is time to apply targeted nutrition with Cold Time, an organo-mineral fertilizer designed to encourage sugar accumulation in the rhizomes and support renewed growth next spring.
The calendar also recommends continuing to apply Promoter until the lawn loses its color.
October is also the time to decide how to manage the lawn through winter: introduce a specific ryegrass mixture such as Macroseeding to maintain grass cover during the cold season, or allow warm-season grasses to undergo their natural winter yellowing while awaiting renewed growth the following season.
