Useful tips for correct lawn mowing
With recurring mowing, the blades of grass branch out and increase in width, making the lawn thicker and more capable of coping with weeds and moss.

1. Why is it important to mow the lawn properly?

For a lawn that is always fresh and beautifully lush, mowing is essential.
It is not only an aesthetic factor, but also an important activity for the health of the lawn.
A good mowing, in fact, allows the soil to transpire more, and therefore to develop more roots.
When you water, the water can penetrate more quickly, thus avoiding evaporation and water stagnation.
It also facilitates the absorption of nutrients from fertilizers.
In short, a well-mown lawn immediately appears tidier, healthier and more luxuriant. It is more pleasant to live in and gives a whole new look to your home.
2. How and when should the lawn be mowed?
With the arrival of the warm season until autumn, the grass should be cut to a height that varies between two and four centimetres depending on the variety.
In summer, however, when temperatures rise, it is best to let it grow a little more to protect the soil from the heat of the sun and thus counteract the drying out of the lawn.
However, to keep the grass two to four centimeters tall requires frequent mowing. Usually for the most common varieties in Italy, the lawn should be mowed once a week. Do not let too much time pass so that the lawn gets too high, otherwise you will run into the problem of having to mow too much leaf, and this will cause damage to your lawn, as well as more time and work to do it. Instead, regular mowing that does not remove more than a third of the height of the leaf will allow you to keep your lawn healthy, green and clean.
It is also advisable to mow when the leaf is dry and during the coolest hours of the day.
3. Which lawnmowers should I use?
There are many lawnmower solutions on the market, ranging from hobby machines to professional ones, from electric ones to those with internal combustion engines and finally robots.
The choice of machine will be dictated first of all by the size of your lawn. For small lawns you could opt for electric or battery-powered machines.
For medium-sized gardens we recommend using battery-powered machines with a power of at least 40 volts or machines with a petrol engine with blades of at least 48 centimetres and 140 CC engines.
For larger areas it is advisable to use riders, cross mowers or tractors, also for a question of saving time in carrying out the work.
Another interesting alternative is to use robot lawnmowers that do the work for you. The latest generation robots guarantee good efficiency and reliability. Basically, it is a matter of choosing the robot that is suitable for the size of your lawn, installing it and it will mow your lawn completely autonomously.
One last piece of advice for lawnmowers: do the right maintenance to keep them efficient. For example, it is very important to always keep the blades sharp so that the cut is clean and regular. This will allow you to avoid unsightly fraying of the leaf.
